The Spice Girls Bid Farewell With a Little Help From Cruz

Last night the Spice Girls closed up shop on their reunion tour in Toronto. They put on their sassy costumes one final time, and the lucky audience was treated to yet another performance by adorable Cruz — LilSugar has the cute video right here. The Girls posted an official goodbye message on their Spice Blog, thanking the fans and even incorporating a few lyrics. Here's more:

We have been lucky enough to have shared it with the most loyal fans in the world. Ten years on, you came back still wanting more . . . and it looks like we made some new friends along the way. You have inspired and ignited us with each show, the 47 that we performed, each time was amazing and it is thanks to you.

So we look to the future with hope and imagination and let Girl Power live on through all of you as it will continue in us and the future generations to come.

Storm damage clean up at Red Cedar cut-off

In 2007, West Wisconsin Land Trust (WWLT) purchased the Red Cedar Cut-Off property with the assistance of the greater Dunn County conservation community as well as other partner organizations and funding sources. While the property is open to the general public for fishing, hunting, hiking, birding and other light recreational uses, WWLT advises public users to be aware of ongoing timber management operations throughout the months of March and April.WWLT is planning to conduct storm damage clean-up operations on the Cut-Off property beginning in March 2008. During two severe storms last August, high winds inflicted significant damage to the forest by uprooting trees and snapping off tree crowns. Much of the forest was left in a condition that impaired the public from accessing portions of the property. The timber salvage operations will remove storm-damaged trees as well as diseased and decaying trees. The harvest will accelerate succession of the forest and push the forest condition towards a mixed-aged character, leaving large-diameter trees to act as a seed source for newly released hardwood seedlings.

Table Talk

One small bite feels like a small, tasty firecracker wrapped in velvet went off in your mouth. But then homier sides of buttered parsnips, beautifully dressed with salt and butter in a tiny copper pot, are unbeatable —- and the grits? Made with cream and truffle oil, they're the height of indulgence —- such a seemingly effortless dish elevated so simply to creamy, savory transcendence. A bowl of fleshy chestnuts with porcini ravioli in a light cream sauce seem like the evening's peak, until a tiny tian of meringue arrives swimming in a creme anglaise (like a tiny oeuf a la niege)."

Why is Atlanta losing its best chefs to New York? I'm beginning to feel like we're the NYC farm team for the restaurant industry — first Soto, then Seeger and now Joel, who is, like Seeger, one of the most talented chefs in the country.

Ken Chambers Blog

I just never have caught any real numbers of the little green fish. And I never caught one that would even make a scale bounce.

I went bass fishing with Buzz and Kevin Merritt along Alligator Alley today. The alley is the local name for Interstate 75 between Naples and Miami. Countless alligators can be found along the canals on each side of the highway. Sorry to state the obvious there, but you never know.

Kevin and his dad, Buzz, could possibly win any father/son one liner competition. They made me want to pee all day with their back-and-forth banter.

They also know their bass fishing. Frankly, Buzz carries more plastic baits than Bass Pro Shops. He has every color in the spectrum and then some. Colors like Mud Puppy, Blond Pony, and Carolina Gravy; weird, I know.
